TOPIC: Not Visibility Rule

Not Visibility Rule 2 years, 5 months ago #10574

We really need a "not" visibility rule as a way to check if a control does not match a specific value. At the moment you can only check if a control matches a specific value.

For example, we have a Textfield that the user can type anything they want into. However if they type in a specific keyword then we turn on a section for more details about the keyword they typed in. If they type in anything other than the keyword or leave the Textfield blank, then we want to turn off the section. This is currently not possible as we cannot check if the haven't typed in the keyword or left the field blank.

Here is an example of the kind of visibility rule I would like to be able to set up for this case.

turn on section keyword_info if text_keyword is KEYWORD
turn off section keyword_info if text_keyword is not KEYWORD

Hope that makes sense and is possible. Thanks.

Hi,

already added into the wishlist and will be included in the next release.

If you need a not for textfields/textareas, it is already included by using regular expressions. See the tutorials.

Thanks for the reply. I did take a look at the tutorial for visibility rules. But I don't understand how the regular expressions work. I don't know how to set it up as a not rule for a text field. Can you show me an example of using a visibility rule to check if a text field is empty or if it is not set to a specific value?

Did you ever get an answer to this. I would love to know for myself.

No I didn't. I can't remember exactly what I did. I believe I had to design the form differently in order to not need this feature, which was painful. I don't know if this feature has been added yet. I can't find a change list anywhere of what's new in the latest version.
